2012 Wishlist: Transformers Fall of Cybertron

In the majority of the depictions of these rock’em, sock’em robots, I’ve never been truly immersed into the origins of the Autobot/Decepticon civil war. Think about it. A lot of adaptations of the franchise take place on Earth, which is where they end up after destroying Cybertron. I got the chance to play War for Cybertron last year, and it was exactly what I wanted to see from a Transformers game. I got to see how allegiances were made, who got betrayed and all the other juicy things that unfold in the plot. I also got decent gameplay for my money, and I appreciated the way High Moon studios pulled off the story as a whole.

The sequel, Fall of Cybertron, will hopefully cover then final days of the war on Cybertron before they land on Earth. I’m hoping this will result in another game that will begin what we are used to seeing: Transformers on Earth! By the way, no one seems to have address this: the dinobots weren’t on Cybertron according to television show. They were built on Earth to give the Autobots an edge over the Decepticons. I know the game is another adaptation, so they can do whatever they want… just saying… Fall of Cybertron should be out before Christmas 2012 if the world doesn’t end!

2012 Wishlist: Tomb Raider

I was never big into Lara Croft or the Tomb Raider series. I was never attracted to the character being obvious eye candy for gamers, and Angelina Jolie couldn’t sell be on the character either.

Since last year’s E3 convention, I’ve been drawn into this reboot of the series, and the more realistic-looking main heroine. It seems that she isn’t doing much treasure hunting as she is desperately trying to survive on an uncharted island. Nothing is more awesome than a strong, adventurous woman! And there’s nothing hotter, either! I’m pretty sure she’ll find the treasure she’s looking for, but the game won’t be glitzy and glamorous as it will be gritty and dark. Set for fall of this year, I hope Square Enix takes me further than Deus Ex did.

DLC Fakeout

DLC Fakeout

Posted this on Romesblog, too. Check out the site!

2012 Wishlist: Overstrike

A four-man group of degenerates must attempt to derail a ruthless syndicate’s plans for world domination. Aside from the fact that it will feature 4-player co-op, I have no other details to give. This mash up between James Bond and the Incredibles is said to come out this year, but without more details and a firm release date, I can only hope that this third-person shooter will be out this year.

DLC Fakeout

When I posted with news of DLC being released with Mass Effect 3, there was proof to back it up. I even called to make sure I wasn't just seeing things, but it seems a mistake was made. The pre-order option was up for a few days regarding the From Dust pack for Mass Effect 3, but it apparently was not meant to be released with the game.

Gamestop has since removed the ability to pre-order such an item with no statement or apology to speak of. Even Bioware and EA haven't officially released anything about the incident, but my curiosity is peaked. When is this DLC pack supposed to drop? And how did it get leaked in the first place? Mass Effect 3 is the most leaked game I've ever followed, and I can't imagine how it keeps happening.

Integrating Kinect compatibility and multiplayer was something we'd assumed since before E3 2011. But the entire demo was released way before it was ready in early January. Now, this DLC pack has been inexplicably revealed... are they intentional leaks? If not, a lot of people have been fired in the last few months. Either way, I'm hoping that the entire game brings me even more surprises and thrills than the hours of footage I've seen already. There are a lot of issues (plot-wise) that I'd like to be addressed in Mass Effect 3, and I'm looking to put every other game on the shelf when it comes out. Mass Effect 3 officially releases on March 6. Three weeks! But I'm not excited or anything.

2012 Wishlist: Max Payne 3

I’d like to start by saying that I’ve never played a Max Payne game before, so I can’t understand the loyalty that some fans have to the game. My dad used to play the first game, but I didn’t get why he enjoyed it either. Now that I’m older and have more experience under my belt, I can honestly say that I’m looking forward to this title.

If my readers haven’t noticed, I’m big into action, but I can’t overlook a lackluster story. To me, what’s going on in the game is just as important as the action. Max Payne 3 seems to have a great blend of action, and an interesting story that I, personally haven’t seen before in a video game. Rockstar was right to push the game back again because they are always at the top of their game. Get it? I’ll be there to pick it up, and I hope it’s everything fans say it will be.

BREAKING NEWS: MASS EFFECT 3 DLC PRE-ORDERS BEGIN

It seems as though Mass Effect 3 will be getting some DLC on launch day. According to my source at Gamestop, and the lovely reporting over at Joystiq.com, the DLC pack labeled ‘From Dust’, is available for preorder and will be released in tandem with the game on March 6. The video game retailer seems to have a green-light on pre-sales for the content, and people are eating it up!

There aren’t many details on the content other than is runs about $10, but I’m sure EA/Bioware will give more details in time.

2012 Wishlist: Mass Effect 3

Everything has built up to this. The Reapers have arrived, and from all the hype and teases dropped along the way, I’m so ready for this game to be released. I’ve never been involved with a series like I have with the Mass Effect series. The overall story, and plotlines that intertwine give the player a truly interesting and exciting experience. What is really great is that no two players will experience the same game because every decision, dialogue choice, and even character design is yours to control.

Before I continue, Mass Effect 3 is the game that with the least security around it. Either that, or the developers want to tease players further. From pictures to a half hour of game play, Bioware has had the worst time trying to keep this game under wraps! Not that I’m complaining, but I was surprised at how much content has been leaked in terms of the development of this game.

Again, everything comes down to what decisions you made in the previous games, but also how well you perform in multiplayer. I’ll be looking forward to seeing how the Galaxy at War system plays into my single player experience. Overall, though, I’ve been waiting to finish the story of my own paragon, adept Shepard. I’m waiting to see if my expectations are met or surpassed, but I’m sure they will be because of the scale of this game. N7 for life!

Black isn't whack

A thought provoking post about a lack of diversity in gaming!
